::1:: 100 LITTLE BIKE MOVIES ::

It's official, our mailbox is exhausted. We received 100 submissions for the 2008 festival - way more than we anticipated.   It was cute to hear the mail slot squeak all day long on the deadline day from the last-minute Portlanders - by tall bike, regular bike, by foot, car, truck and yes, that one muscle car.   Right down to the wire, the last submission hit our box at 11:48pm.

Filmed by Bike has truly arrived.   We were impressed with the overall quality of the submissions.   Great production quality, excellent themes and really involved story lines.   We were also pleased to see more animated features than ever before.   Way to make bike movies, filmmakers!

The esteemed jury met last night to review the films, but we don't yet have a final list.   We've still got quite a bit of work cut out for us to make the final selections because....

::2:: NEW THIS YEAR: TWO PROGRAMS! ::

Each year we show approximately 17 movies, but there's no way we could turn down the other 83 movies this year.   So we're adding on an entire second program of movies.   You're going to love it!   We know tons of you are into Filmed by Bike so much that you went twice last year, and this year you can see *fresh* films the second time around.

Stay tuned to our website.   We'll have the program posted in the next few weeks. We'll also send out an e-mail so you know to check it out.

:3:: THANKS JURY ::

Joe Lumbroso, Andy Bluebaugh, Meghan Sinnott, Sang Park, Gabriel Amadeus Tiller, Gregg Lavender and Ellee Thalheimer are the hard working jury members who have been reviewing all the entries. Last night they were up till the wee hours.   Sometimes doubled over in stitches, other times... not.   I don't know if they fully knew what they were getting into when they signed on for the huge responsibility of being a jury member, but so far they've done a great job.

If you are in the Portland area and you see one of these rockstars on the streets, be sure to give them a nod.

::4:: FRIDAY GETS BETTER ::

Filmed by Bike is April 11-13 at the Clinton Street Theater in Portland.   Friday the 11th is the Opening Night Throwdown, a party night with beer, entertainment, a killer raffle with impressive prizes and a huge crowd.

This year, New Belgium is coming back to party with us.   They're loading us up with beer, they'll have fun stuff to give away, and of course their crazy bikes to ride.   We're adding in some outdoor entertainment, just for a little in-line action.   And as for that raffle? Watch out, because it's hot.   We'll have the full list for your perusal shortly, but I will tell you that Lemolo Bags is hard at work making a custom messenger bag just for Filmed by Bike.

But remember, there are no advance ticket sales, so you'll need to get to the theater early (for all screenings) to get in.

::5:: THANK YOU NEWSLETTER DRAWING ::

This issue's drawing is for hot-off-the-screen Filmed by Bike screened patch and a pack of bicycle cards and stickers.   The first e-mail message to arrive in my mailbox with a complete postal address (US or international) wins.   Send to Info@FilmedByBike.org.   Good luck.
