:: WHAT TO EXPECT ::
I just met with Seth who runs the Clinton Street Theater. Does he mind that Filmed by Bike is a raucous showing of bike films? No, not at all. He welcomes us and all of our, er, enthusiasm. On the night of the festival you can expect a packed house of people hooting and hollering at the silver screen. And if you miss parts of the movies, you can always purchase the DVD for your own private screening.

No, but really, while the crowd may cheer and holler, it's a great time. We get quite possibly the most diverse group of cyclists all under one roof for the night. And while we're not necessarily forging bike bonds with each other, it's great to bring everyone together.

:: WORDS SPREADS ::
Apparently there are groups of people from Seattle coming to town for Films by Bike. Oh how word spreads. One of these days, maybe Filmed by Bike will go on the road to other cities.

:: GET THERE EARLY ::
Filmed by Bike has always sold out and we're pretty sure it's going to happen again this year. The 7:00 show is all ages and the 9:00 is 21+. Both have the same program and beer for sale. I recommend arriving early to ensure you get in. Tickets are not sold in advance though we will open the ticket office a half hour before the program.

:: SPECIAL THANKS ::
Over 25 volunteers make Filmed by Bike happen, and I really appreciate their support. I'd like to especially thank Matt Phillips (aka Matt Takedown), DVD compiler extraordinaire. Matt puts all the movies on one DVD, which sounds simple but kind of isn't. If you know Matt, give him a high five.

I'd also like to thank Amy Stork, star volunteer. For years Amy has ensured that we have donated beer for sale and that, in general, the night goes off without a hitch. She also wrote the great article that ran in Cranked. Seek Amy out and give her a pat on the back.

:: WHY BIKE FILMS? ::
I don't know what it is about bikes, but they surely lend themselves well to the artistic side of life. There are a few bike film fests around the country that are starting to grow. The largest, by far, is the International Bicycle Film Festival, a traveling show that is based in NYC. They do a great job of showing shorts and longer films and they attract some great films.

I started Films by Bike simply as a creative way to raise funds for the Multnomah County Bike Fair, but the fest has grown to be about so much more. Every year there is a strong handful of film submissions that come from people who have never made a film before. These little gems offer us a unique glance into the minds of bike enthusiasts and bike cultures around the globe. Dig in, this Friday's going to be awesome!

:: NEWSLETTER RAFFLE ::
This issue's raffle is for two free raffle tickets. To win, be the first to e-mail Info@FilmedByBike.org.

See you at the festival!
